You know how unwanted emails are called “spam”?

The term actually comes from a 1970 sketch on the British comedy show Monty Python's Flying Circus.

“In the sketch, dangling wires lower two hapless customers into a diner. They hear about the available dishes, but every single menu item has spam in it. One customer protests that she doesn’t like spam when a choir of Vikings drowns out all conversation singing:

‘Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam… Lovely Spam! Wonderful Spam!’”

The joke? Spam is everywhere and it’s drowning out everything else.

It’s a fun reminder: Don’t let your messaging be just more noise. Or spam.
